The El Marinero Chapter of the NSDAR is located in Marin County in Northern California. “El Marinero” was the affectionate name given by early Spanish settlers to an Indian chief of the Coastal Miwoks who lived in this area when the Spaniards arrived. The chief often served as a boatman ferrying small craft over San Francisco Bay. Thus the friars nicknamed him El Marinero, or “The Sailor.” Chapter members commissioned a plaque in his honor.

If you are interested in joining our chapter, please send us an email. We will contact you, answer your questions and notify you of upcoming General and Genealogy Club meetings.
